"The patience one has to have to approach the nonostensible, the minute, the insignificant, to discover the worm as a star without luster. To discover the grasshopper's worth." Helene Cixous
At work in my studio, I search for balance, elegance, and meaning in very simple things - in the Everyday. Making and using ceramic objects helps me locate this quiet beauty, so often forgotten or hidden inside the rush and routine of daily life.
And, I enjoy the challenge of making work that is as useful as it is beautiful/ quiet/ small. I work hard to create durable pieces that can compete technically with commercial tableware, without sacrificing the texture, presence and resonance of the handmade. I am proud to have my work represented by the following Brooklyn restaurants: Marlow and Sons, Achilles Heel, Reynard and The Wythe Hotel, OPS, The Four Horsemen, Alameda, and the upcoming Young Lion.
To give my full attention and respect to every object, I work in small editions. Please contact me directly if you are interested in commissioning work for your home or restaurant, or to visit my studio in North Brooklyn.
